How we work

Working with new financial planners can be daunting, whether it’s your first time or you are looking to make a change from an existing arrangement. We understand that.

Our first priority is making sure that you feel comfortable and at ease in talking with us. In our initial, introduction meeting (which is free and confidential), we want to achieve two things;

Firstly, we want to have a good understanding of why you are seeking to work with an independent financial adviser, what your current goals might be and what your current situation is.

Secondly, we want to give you all the information and reassurance that you need to understand how we work and how we will be able to help you.

A service for everyone

Often with our younger clients, we are the first financial planners that they have spoken to, so we will spend more time explaining our services, jargon free, in relation to their situation and advising them on what areas they might like to focus on. This can be quite transformative, as often our younger clients are not aware of all the possibilities and options available to them.

With older, more experienced clients who already have a certain amount of policies and schemes in place, we will be looking to confirm and demonstrate the areas where we are able to assist you and to improve and add value to your existing financial planning and asset management.

We are here to listen and we are here to help. If you choose to work with us, we will start to gain as full a picture as possible of where you are now and where you want to be, and when, then start to create a strategy and a working relationship to work towards your financial goals.

We do not believe in rushing our clients through the process of working with us, it’s important that we go at your pace so that you understand everything you need to about how we work and how we are able to help you. In our first meeting, we will give you two documents, our ‘client agreement’ document and our ‘information about our services and costs’ document. This will cover how we are paid – you can find out more about our fees here.

Once you are happy to start working with us we will then draw up a service agreement.

We will then undertake the following;

  • Conduct research
  • Liaise with existing policy providers where relevant
  • Make our recommendations to you

Further meetings will be arranged as required to discuss our advice and how it will be actioned in more detail. We will use our Lifestyle Financial Planning Model to show you how your financial plan is working.

We will then implement our recommendations and complete all paperwork and applications for you. We will see this through to completion, keeping you fully informed at each step – there is nothing for you to do, we will handle everything for you.

Building a successful relationship for the future

Once we have implemented and managed all of our initial recommendations for you, you become a valued client who we look forward to looking after for years to come. You will have a regular review with us, usually annual to look at how everything is going. We will look at any changes to your circumstances and feedback to you how all of your investments and other assets are performing. We will also look at if the general UK economy has effected your portfolio and financial plans and make suggestions for changes and improvements.

In addition, if at any point you feel you would benefit from a review or want to talk through a career or lifestyle change that might affect your plans, we are always happy to see you.

Making it easy for you

We can meet with you at our town centre offices in the stylish Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth, or at your home or office, whatever is best for you. Due to the on going COVID-19 pandemic we are currently only offering zoom and telephone consultations until further advice from the UK Government.
